Go for any fruits you like such as bananas, apples, oranges, grapefruits, grapes, etc. Pick an apple, orange, or a banana for a healthier cardiovascular system or an avocado for younger-looking skin and anti-inflammatory properties.
- Black chocolate
Black chocolate has always been well-known for its ability to prevent cardiovascular diseases, decreased memory performance, and stroke. A study even shows that chocolate helps promote cognitive function.
When shopping for chocolate, go for products that have the highest concentration. Avoid black chocolate that has extra cereals added since it usually contains a high sugar level.
- Yogurt
Yogurt is full of protein and probiotics, which help boost your digestive health and avoid digestive problems.
You should choose yogurts that are sugar-free and low-fat. If you find sugar-free yogurt unappetizing, you may add a bit honey and fruits to enhance the flavor. Be sure to read the ingredients list on the container to be sure that there are bateria listed: that way you know that useful and healthy bacteria have not been cooked out of it.
- Nuts
As small as they may look, nuts are powerhouses of healthy fats and fibers, which help promote cognitive development, control blood pressure and improve general health.
If you’re on a diet, choose nuts that are low in calories such as almonds, cashews, and chestnuts. Soybeans are a great choice for those who want to improve their cardiovascular system. Peanuts and sunflower seeds are the ones you should go to for cognitive enhancement.
- Cheese
Cheese is a great source of protein, calcium, probiotics and healthy fats, which fight against osteoporosis, dental cavities, and cancer. One study even showed that 40 grams of cheese per day lead to prolonged life expectancy.
Reach for cheese products that have low fat and sodium content. For more flavors, consider cottage cheese.
- Boiled eggs
Eggs are easy to buy, very portable and compact, delicious, and low in calories, making them a great snack to get protein for building muscles. What’s even greater is that eating eggs also decreases your risk of breast cancer by 24%. Some studies even show that they can help prevent stroke.
You may have boiled eggs served with whole grain bread or cheese to get an addition dose of calcium. Remember that eggs should only be boiled for 3 minutes or else they may lose nutrients.
- Vegetables
Orange and green vegetables such as carrots and cabbage are very good for vision. On the same note, red vegetables such as tomatoes and beetroots work wonder for the cardiovascular system.
Grab a carrot or sweet potato for a light snack. Or, you may mix all of your favorite vegetables into a delicious and healthy salad.
